This World is Not My Home

“This world is not my home…I’m just a-passin’ through…

      And I can’t feel at home in this world any more.”

This old song says what many of us are feeling these days.  

There is a common questioning and bewilderment over what we hear and see on the news, social media and podcasts.  Weather related disasters are becoming frequent occurrences.  Our populations are diminishing due to low birth rates and high diagnoses of lethal and deadly disease.  And there is war.  War dominates and has become an accepted element of existence.  Honestly, this has been true since the beginning of creation.

Perhaps you have noticed, it does seem like things are ramping up.  Yes, we know more now than we ever have in the history of our world.  Call it fear mongering.  Call it sensationalism.  Those who spread bad news seem to delight in revealing every detail of every devastation.

The global condition is wearying and creates fear and hopelessness.

The choices are few.  Many chose addictions.  Some choose ignorance.  Others isolate. 

And some choose to end life…their own and in some tragic scenarios, others too.

There is another choice. THE BEST CHOICE AND ONLY CHOICE.

We are all born with a sense of “Someone” at work in all of this chaos.  Some call that feeling a “higher power.”  Some, “the universe.”  Some come close by calling it “God.”  Each one of these titles are usually distorted and become the invention of the person trying desperately to come up with an explanation based on their own knowledge or experience. Obstacles prevent many from coming to a full realization of the truth, and they continue living with fear and frustration.

‘Searching’ is good, but ‘finding’ is life changing.

God, the Creator of the universe and the earth we live on…God, the Most High, Who rules over all He created…God in the flesh, Jesus Christ, Who made a way for us to be reconciled to a Holy God…God in Spirit, Who lives within all of those who search and find…

This God has a plan.  He wrote it all down through His servants Who knew Him.  He tells us what was, what is and what is coming.  And He wants us all to know His plan.  He never intended for His creation to be chaotic and destructive.  

That destruction can be laid at the feet of the enemy.  

We understand we do not belong here if we understand God’s ultimate plan.  His plan is good.  And we look forward to the perfection that He intended from the very beginning.  What is required is our submission to His plan.  The word ‘submission’ has a negative connotation, but in essence, it’s definition is not about giving up, but being in agreement and embracing a plan which includes hope, abundant love, forever joy, and perfection. Perfection! 

Revelation 21, verse 3 and 4  in the Bible, God’s Holy Word, says:  And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they all will be His people.  God Himself will be with them and be their God.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

This is God’s plan for your future if you submit to His plan.  

I John 3: 1, 2 and 3 says:  Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!  Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.  Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.  And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

It is only through Jesus Christ, the Savior of all mankind through all of history that we can know perfection and be purified.  It is the only way we can know what it means to truly belong.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
